Hi guys!
It’s the start of a week before Christmas (ahh!) and here’s a little insight on what I was up to last week.
To kick it off, I watched yet another Christmas movie (the season only comes once a year, ok!) and it was actually one I hadn’t seen in it’s entirety before: White Christmas! I knew some of the songs already and kinda had the idea of what it was about but it was nice to finally catch the whole thing so it made more sense. I loved it – which is why it got added to my Christmas movie marathon – ha!
Next up, I got invited by one of my Nike friends, Erica, to the opening of a brand new women’s sneaker boutique (first ever of its kind in the city) called POGO. Katie and I arrived and we were instantly greeted with champagne and Eataly flatbread and the place looked so cool inside! Majority of the vendors that the store features are women, which is pretty amazing since sometimes when I think of a sporty clothing store it tends to seem more “manly”. They had a good mix of big names and local names with brands like Shrimps, Adidas, Opening Ceremony, Nike, as well as locals like All Choked Up. Speaking of them, there is a special changing room that a local vendor gets to deck out with their favorites and it gets switched out every few weeks. This first one was curated by Sam, the owner of All Choked Up. Another cool part of the room is that you can hit a button to fog it up when you’re inside – how cool is that?! We both had fun playing with it for a little bit! Right before we left, I had to get my nails done by Astrowifey, an insta-celeb nail artist who happened to be doing complimentary nail art here. I LOVED the outcome – so different from anything I’ve ever gotten before (only had enough time for two per hand but I didn’t mind). To finish out, we got little swag bags to take home with a tshirt and a gift card inside. Safe to say we’ll be back!
After that fun-filled night, Katie and I decided to go round 2 and did a little exploring in Logan Square. I was so happy because all the following places (minus the last one which I didn’t know before) were all places I had been DYING to visit for a while but just never did. Well ladies and gents, here we go. We started at Festive Collective first, a party-centric boutique that has everything from planners, decor and cards to what you’d actually wear to the party. I adored their Christmas ornaments too complete with a disco ball topper for the tree! Since they had leftovers from yesterday’s event, we also got champagne and cookies (see a theme here? 😉) while we walked around too!
The sweet tooth must have been very strong that day because our next stop was Park & Field, an old school sports bar with fire pits and s’mores kits. We split one and enjoyed taking pics with the little camper bar outside (it was closed for the season otherwise we would have loved to capture it in action too). We also made a little canine friend, Bruce, who just made himself at home! Too cute!
Since we had a little time before eating, we decided to grab a drink at Lost Lake – Three Dots & A Dash’s sister bar. The vibe was better than we expected; hardly a wait to get a table (yeah that’s right, no reservation needed like at Three Dots!), the drinks were slightly cheaper and they tasted better! It was also DECKED OUT with Christmas decor including some holiday drinks. I got the Cosmo-Ho-Ho, a delicious spin on your traditional Cosmo, while Katie got the Christmas Island (the cute Santa one) filled with all kinds of rum and other liquor but it actually didn’t taste super strong! Would 10/10 go back again to test out their regular cocktail menu!
Last but not least, we wanted to top off our night with something to soak up our alcohol so we opted for a new place neither of us had ever heard of: Daisies. The place was small but super cool. I loved the little lights and the food was great! Word on the street was they had a seasonal truffle ravioli so you know we had to do it. It did not disappoint! Black truffle and ricotta filled ravioli with pancetta and brussel sprouts topped with grated fresh parmesan- mmm! We finished with a raspberry oatmeal square – heck it was only a dollar and still good! The staff was super attentive and asked for our feedback on the meal and the service – A+ for that since it’s rare that a restaurant would actually care for your thoughts that much!
Local Spots I Checked Out: Pogo Lincoln Park, Festive Collective, Park & Field, Lost Lake, Daisies
Events I’m Looking Forward To: Christkindlmarket Blogger Meetup, Holiday Trolley, Museum of Science and Industry Christmas Trees Around the World, Zoo Lights
