Hi guys! Long time no see!! It’s been a little crazy with work but I’m back 😉 . Anyway, I had a great opportunity to go to the opening of Nando’s Peri Peri Chicken on Michigan Ave partnering with Chance the Rapper and his foundation, Social Works – benefitting Chicago Public Schools. We got in line a few hours before to make sure we got in and it was definitely worth it! They gave us a sample of their Nata dessert, an egg custard with cinnamon on top like creme brûlée but with flakey crust around it like a tart. Yum!
Looks so pretty right?! If you’ve never been before, when you get in you order at the desk first and then sit down or wait for it and take it to go (learned this the second I went). Pro-tip: all the extra sauces are around the restaurant to pour on your meal – I suggest the Lemon Herb, has a slight kick but so good! I got the Chicken “Burger” (sandwich) which has cheddar, pineapple, lettuce, red onion, and tomato as well as a little bit of their garlic aioli – don’t skip the Peri Chips (fries) with Perinaise (garlic mayo sauce for dipping)! I hear their red skin mashed potatoes are pretty good as well!
While we ate, Chance came in and started cooking behind the grill – maybe he’s got a restaurant in his future? He went around the restaurant serving plates to people and taking pictures as well as spoke about his cause too, which was very humbling. All and all, the event raised money for Chicago Public Schools for 3 whole days (not just when Chance was there) and that’s pretty cool.
See you in the next post!
