Hi everyone!
Back again with another Monthly Mashup and this one was quite busy, to say the least!
First up, some friends and I visited Paradise Park in Wicker Park. Great pizza and decor – highly recommend!
While there, I also thought of a few great ways to transition your wardrobe from summer to fall. From adding cute cardigans to dresses & more, get ready because the temperatures will soon change to chillier and cozier ones!
I also ventured out to Soul Jam this year for the first time – held at Soulful Prairies in Woodstock, IL. The grounds were gorgeous and my brother got to play a few songs too! If you’re in for music, food, a cute market, and horses, come by next year!
With the holidays coming up faster than we think, I really wanted to check out L.A. Burdick’s to see if it could be a great little visit for the winter season too. Turns out, it was! There were chocolate mice and drinkable chocolate with marshmallows…the perfect little Christmastime spot. Though based in the US, it’s almost like walking into a European cafe when you come into Burdick’s. Highly recommend!
As you probably saw in my birthday post, I celebrated another year of life this month! ☺️ I had a blast with friends and family while getting my hair done and grabbing really cool drinks. It was one for the books for sure!
As mentioned above with the holidays coming fast, I rounded up a few fall activities that we could all do before the cold comes (nooo). Might as well embrace the temperature change instead of fight it, right?
Down to the final two events this month (told you it was busy!): celebrating new Chicago-based makeup brand Maelle at their launch party at Chez Event Space & visiting The Other Art Fair in Pilsen at Mana Contemporary Chicago later that same night. For Maelle, the decor was AMAZING with pink balloons and a candy buffet with an Insta-worthy neon sign. The brand is cruelty-free and very socially focused, striving to create a community with their brand through a rep program. We all got to take home a lip liner stick and I really liked mine (check my Events highlights for more info on that)!
As for The Other Art Fair, there were so many talented artists being featured. The influence was heavy on works with Chicago in them which I liked. Besides buying either originals or prints at the show, there were a few freebies you could take home too. I really liked the 1-minute portrait station (yes, it was actually 1-minute, there was a timer), it actually looked like me I think! I made sure to take pictures of my favorites below so if you’re in the market for art, check these creators out!

Loved all the colors and prints this artist had

This style reminded me of Gray Malin a little bit!

My inner city girl loved that the “L” was featured in this one

My 1-minute portrait from Tyler Feder – so talented and has done work for Netflix, Refinery 29 and Mindy Kaling!

Hebru Brantley – the featured artist for the night, heavy Chicago influence and has murals around the city
Local Spots I Checked Out: Paradise Park, Soulful Prairies, L.A. Burdick’s, Goldplaited, Apogee, Chez Event Space (Maelle), Mana Contemporary Chicago (The Other Art Fair)
Events I’m Looking Forward To Next Month: Fall Fashion, Fall Menu Tasting at Holt’s, Oak Street Social Instagram Seminar, Work Party Book Party, Influencer Events (have a couple in the beginning of the month), More Birthdays to Celebrate, Open House Chicago, & Halloween of course!
See you in the next post!
