- Watch a New Series: Figured I’d get this one out of the way since it’s the easy answer. A few newer ones if you haven’t tried them out – Tiger King, Locke and Key, Little Fires Everywhere, and The Bold Type. Also HIGHLY recommend Schitt’s Creek if you haven’t started it yet as the series finale just aired!
- Pick up a Craft: Learn how to sew, paint a canvas, do a puzzle, get a coloring book, the options from Pinterest are endless. I’m currently making a t-shirt blanket out of old sorority and bar shirts and loving the way it’s turning out! Also just nice to have an activity that takes me off my screens for a little bit too.
- FaceTime a Friend: We all gotta stay connected these days! Whether it’s friends, family, a date, or whoever else – video call ’em with your phone’s video calling tool, the HouseParty app to also play games, or the Marco Polo app for a virtual vent sesh, wine night, dinner, or just checking in.
- Do a Group Game: As mentioned above, you can play trivia and other games on certain apps like Houseparty, you can download virtual group games like JackBox and share your screen with the rest of the group via a video calling app, or you can bring out a classic board/card game or you have around the house and move pieces/cards for the people you call in. Another game that we just got that my roommates and I have been loving is this beer pong putt putt set. Perfect for warmer days in the yard!
- Take a Course: There are TONS of virtual classes you can take right now – a great time to get that certification you’ve been meaning to finally complete or just to add some more skills to your repertoire.
- Try a New Recipe: Remember all those ones you save on Pinterest and never do? Why not now?? Who knows, you might actually find a new favorite to add to your weekly mainstays! Food, snack, or even a new cocktail.
- Film a TikTok: Don’t knock it ’til you try it. Though the app is newer and millennials especially are not sure about it, trust me when I say that it gets addictive fast. You can try original content, try a dance challenge, or add to a trend. The options are endless and the app’s main idea is for collaboration – exactly what we need right now while stuck at home!
- Try a New Makeup Style: Even if you mess up, no one will see it. Perfect time to practice that cool highlighter trick you’ve been meaning to master!
- Get Rid of Some Clothes: They don’t call it spring cleaning for nothing! Either sell them online via Poshmark/Thred Up/etc. or get them prepared for giving away once Goodwill and other shelters + stores open back up for receiving.
- Karaoke Night: Belt to your favorite bops with your roommates or whoever else you’re quaratining with (or do it virtually). It’s hilarious and definitely a fun way to think back to good times.
